Mini Chess & Games Club
A table, a board, and whoever turns up. All ages, all strengths, no clocks unless both players want one.
What we play
- Chess. Casual games, and a small ladder for anyone who wants a score. Beginners are taught the pieces before they are taught the openings.
- Board games. A shelf of short games that work across languages, plus a few long ones for a Sunday.
- Children’s hour. Earlier in the afternoon, quieter, and with an adult on hand to keep the rules fair.
How it works
Come alone. We pair people up, and the first five minutes are introductions rather than a game. If you would rather watch a round first, that is normal and nobody will hurry you.
- Who
- All ages; children welcome with or without a parent
- Bring
- Nothing. Boards, pieces and games are here.
- Cost
- Free; tea and coffee by donation
- Language
- English and Mandarin, mostly at the same time
Meeting days are placeholders. Ask to be added to the reminder list and we
